Understanding Why JESUS Worked on the Sabbath Day
Part One
John 5:17 says, “But Jesus answered them, “My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.” Listen carefully, Jesus told them that His Father has been working up until now, therefore He works. Jesus told them this after he had healed the man and told him to take up his bed and walk. Matthew 12:1-8 explains how Jesus went on a Sabbath day through the corn with his disciples and his disciples plucked the ears of corn to eat because they hungered. The Pharisees saw it and questioned him why his disciples did what was unlawful. Jesus explained what David did when he was an hungered and how the priests profaned the Sabbath and were blameless. (Matthew 12:4-5) Finally, Jesus stated that He was Lord of the Sabbath Day. (Matthew 12:8)

Today GOD Has No Rest!
Every Christian Must Understand What Jesus is saying and why in the eyes of the Pharisees it was unlawful for the disciples of Jesus to pluck and eat corn on the Sabbath Day, however they were blameless in the eyes of the Lord of the Sabbath. Listen carefully and Receive Revelation Knowledge from the Word of God.
Isaiah 62:1-2 says, “For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness and all kings thy glory; and thou shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.” (This is referring to the righteousness of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ – Ref: Isaiah 59:20-21, Isaiah 60, Isaiah 48:16-17, and John 1:1-5.)
Isaiah 62:6-7 says, “I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.”
Today, the Lord of the Sabbath Day is at work and has no rest. Watchmen on the wall do not hold their peace and they have no rest. Is there rest for Christians today – Holy Temples of God? Are you truly a Holy Temple of God? The provision of man becoming Holy Temples of God was only offered under the new and everlasting covenant; this provision was not offered in the Lord’s Covenant with Moses and All Israel as outlined in Deuteronomy 5:3-22. Today, we are under a different covenant, a better covenant - a new and everlasting covenant.
Listen carefully, Jesus said, “My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.” Moreover, Jesus said that He was “Lord of the Sabbath Day.” Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath is always working – For within Jesus dwelleth the fullness of the Godhead bodily and we are complete in Him. Are Christians Holy Temples of God? Should the Church, the Body of Christ always work? God set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” Today, Christians are still working to reality this end.
Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ is not at rest until He Make Jerusalem –A Praise in the Earth. Isaiah 60:16 says: "Thou shalt also suck the milk of the Gentiles, and thou shalt suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer, the mighty One of Jacob." Do you realize that the God's chosen people will suck the milk of the Gentiles; they shall suck the breasts of kings? Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus, we have work to do – God wants to use us to make the Bride of Christ ready and to make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
Listen carefully.
Are you spending your time like the Pharisees, judging another man’s servants? The Lord of the Sabbath is not at rest – He is always working – God has watchmen 24/7. - Seven Days a week – 24 hours a day. What watch are you on? When is your shift? Does someone shift falls on Saturday? Do you judge people when they work on Saturday, working to feed themselves and their children because this is the day you observe the Sabbath? Romans 14:4-6 says, “Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? To his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. (6) One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. (6) He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.”
Why is Jesus Christ always at work? The Father said that he will not hold his peace and He will not rest … For God so loved the World – He has sheep that are lost – Some are stuck in pits, and they need to be set free. Are you avail – this is a non-stop operation; what shift are you on? Did you know under the new and everlasting covenant – Christians are Holy Temples of God – this is the only covenant that this is realized. I pray in the name of Jesus that all will receive this revelation.
I would like to share more; therefore, this discussion is divided into two parts. You may read Part Two below. Moreover, I just posted a video on You Tube that covers this subject - click on this link to watch the video. I look forward to your comments.
May God bless and keep you!

Understanding Why JESUS Worked on the Sabbath Day
Part Two
Background on the Sabbath Day - God Rested.
“Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.” (Genesis 2:1-3)
Sabbath Day Observed
Exodus 16:22-23 marks God giving Moses instructions regarding the Sabbath day and the honoring of it by the people. “And it came to pass, that on the sixth day they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for one man: and all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses. And he said unto them, This is that which the Lord had said, Tomorrow is the rest of the holy Sabbath unto the Lord: Bake that which ye will bake today, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.” … “So the people rested on the seventh day.” (Exodus 16:30)
Commandment to Keep the Sabbath Day Holy
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy works: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.” (Exodus 20:8-11)
Keeping the Sabbath Day is a perpetual covenant. Exodus 31:16-17 explains the perpetual covenant as follows. “Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.”
The House of Israel Rebelled Against God and Greatly Polluted His Sabbaths – Thus God Made a New Covenant
The House of Israel rebelled against God and greatly polluted His Sabbaths (Ezekiel 20:11-16) Isaiah Chapter 57 through Chapter 59 explains how Israel’s Iniquities Caused a Separation of God from His people. For God so loved the world, He made a new and everlasting covenant that gave believers power to become children of God. Below is the foundation for the new and everlasting covenant.
Isaiah 59:20-21 says, “And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD. As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.” The new and everlasting covenant is covered in Isaiah chapter 54, Romans chapter 11, Isaiah chapter 55, Jeremiah 32:40-42, Hebrews 8:6-13, and John 3:16-18.
Hebrews 8:13 says, “In that he saith, a new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.” Christians must understand that the old covenant has vanished. When the old covenant vanished, this resolve made by King Solomon also vanished when he said, “Behold I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate it to him, and to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual showbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This is an ordinance for ever to Israel.” (II Chronicles 2:4)
Leviticus 24:8 explains how this ordinance would be taken away by an everlasting covenant. “Every Sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant.” (Leviticus 24:8) Isaiah 1:10-5 explains why God would not any longer honor their feast days, Sabbaths, and solemn assemblies. This further explains why Colossians 2:16 says, “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holy day, or of the new moon, or the Sabbath days. Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.” The new and everlasting covenant took this ordinance away.
Therefore there are no more blood offerings for sin; Jesus is the high priest and he offered himself once and has paid the price for our sins. Hebrews chapter nine through ten explains the first covenant and how God took away the first covenant that he may establish a second. Hebrews 13:20 says, “Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
Jesus said, “For the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath day.” (Matthew 12:8 and Luke 6:5) Throughout the ministry of Jesus Christ, the Jews sought ways to build a case against Him for not honoring the Sabbath day. Here we will examine some scriptures regarding the Sabbath to gain a better understanding. However, instead of providing the details first, we reverse the order of the presentation.
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. (Colossians 2:8-17)
Today, do people continue to attempt to judge people on the day that they worship the Lord – the day that they observe as a Sabbath Day? Is the Sabbath made for men or are Men made for the Sabbath? What does this mean, “Man is not made for the Sabbath?”
There were several types of Sabbath days for the Hebrews. Leviticus 23:32 clearly shows at what time of day the Sabbath would be observed. “It shall be unto you a Sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your Sabbath.” Although this text concerns a special Sabbath Day, the same holds true for observing the Sabbath Day which is from “evening until evening.”
The Pharisees and scribes sought to judge Jesus regarding how He kept the Sabbath Day. Matthew 12:1-8 explains how Jesus went on a Sabbath day through the corn with his disciples and his disciples plucked the ears of corn to eat because they hungered. The Pharisees saw it and questioned him why did he and his disciples do what was unlawful. Jesus explained that He was Lord of the Sabbath Day. In effect, Jesus told them that they did not have the right to judge man regarding the Sabbath. Jesus further explained that man was not made for the Sabbath, but the Sabbath was made for men. In conclusion, six days a man should work and the seventh day is the Sabbath. Let no man judge you regarding Sabbath days.
Besides judging the Sabbath Days, the apostles had to address other concerns regarding the law in respect to the Gentiles. In the book of Acts, chapter 15, they addressed questions of circumcision and keeping the law. The following conclusion was made as recorded in Acts 15:28-29, “For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication, from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.”
The concern regarding keeping the Sabbath was addressed again in the book of Romans.
Nevertheless, today we have some who still judge people regarding the Sabbath Days. God forbid. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath and Jesus is not at rest – Are Christians Holy Temples of God? Is the Body of Christ the Church? Let us pray for those who disregard the word of God, and who continue to make the same mistakes that were made by the Pharisees and scribes, judging others regarding Sabbath days. Remember, six days you should work and the seventh day is the Lord’s. But let no man judge you regarding the Sabbath Days. Six days a man should work and let no man judge you regarding the Sabbath Days. Isaiah 66:23 says, “And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.”
Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ is not at rest until He Make Jerusalem –a praise in the Earth. Isaiah 62:1-2 says, “For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness and all kings thy glory; and thou shall be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.” What happens when the Gentiles see the righteousness of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ? Do you realize that the God's chosen people will suck the milk of the Gentiles; they shall suck the breasts of kings? (Isaiah 60:16) Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus, we have work to do – God wants to use us to make the Bride of Christ ready for the marriage of the Lamb of God and to make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. Listen carefully.
Are you spending your time like the Pharisees, judging another man’s servants? The Lord of the Sabbath is not at rest – He is always working – God has watchmen 24/7. - Seven Days a week – 24 hours a day. What watch are you on? When is your shift? Does someone shift fall on Saturday?
Are you available – This is a non-stop operation; what shift are you on? Did you know under the new and everlasting covenant – Christians are Holy Temples of God – this is the only covenant that this is realized. I pray in the name of Jesus that all will receive this revelation.
May God bless and keep you!
